Ben Decca, the elder brother of makossa star
Grace Decca,
is one of the major makossa stars of the 1980s and 1990s. He owes his popularity probably to his silky
voice, his style of singing is very typical for makossa music.
From a family of ten brothers and sisters, Ben, Grace,
Dora Decca and later also
Isaac Decca are active in making music. Ben Decca started working in the automotive sector, and went to France to
follow studies as autmotive expert. It was in France he made his first musical steps. His cousin
Joe Mboule helped him
recording for Mboule's label Tempo Records.
Ben Decca recorded and released more than 20 albums during 4 decades, from the 1980s, for example
« Yetena Oa », (1985),
« Espoir » (1988),
« Amour à sens unique » (1988),
through the 1990s (
« Bwanga Bwan », a duo with his sister Grace Decca, 1989),
followed by many others, such as
« Saphir » (2002).
